Summary

Hi!

My name is Izzy and I recently graduated from Leeds Beckett University, with a first in Computer Animation and Visual Effects. I'm still based in Leeds and I'm hoping to find a job in a job in design for when I finish my Graphic Design placement with Cohorted.

I'm half Ugandan, half British, and grew up in the Netherlands, where I attended an international school, so I've spent most of my life in very diverse, multi-cultural environments.

Something I'm extremely passionate about is bringing more authentic and respectful representation of people of colour to the media world, as I would have loved to see someone who looked like myself on the tv when I was younger. For my dissertation, I researched the representation of black women in the 3D animation industry, and developed a simulated prototype for box braids (a protective hairstyle for afro hair)!

Experience

  • Junior Graphic Design at Cohorted Communication
    Leeds, United Kingdom
    August 2021 - Present

As part of the small team at this hybrid, beauty ecommerce, and communications agency, I work closely with colleagues across all departments to produce aesthetically pleasing, innovative, and iterative visuals, for both print and digital use. We often do exclusive brand partnerships and provide marketing services for renown brands, including ITV, Harvey Nichols and Lindt, so I'm very comfortable communicating with their representatives, and working within brand guidelines, to design effective campaigns with a clear story. I was nominated as the content team’s employee of the month, in my first month of employment, for the self-examination and symptom infographics I made to raise awareness about breast cancer. Some other design projects I have worked on here, so far, include several box sleeves/packaging, printed flyers and table talkers, large, free-standing roller banners, marketing emails and various visual content for their social media platforms.
